Kansas City Royals Powered by Solar

Kansas City Royals will have the largest in-stadium solar array in Major League Baseball. The south-facing 120 panel array will provide some of the power for Kauffman Stadium without any distracting glare for batters at the plate.

Kansas City Power & Light and Royals agreement will provide enough power to keep the park's refrigeration operating at full speed. The finished array will be seen by fans from any seat in the stadium. Fans will be educated by the park's interactive display showing how much electricity is being generated.

The Royals aren't stopping at solar panels for their only green initiative, they also offer paperless tickets to season ticket buyers and promote recycling within the stadium.

Fans will see the panels up close at the home opener April 13th against the Cleveland Indians and the array will receive international attention during the All-Star game July 10th.

More details at the Kansas City Royals MLB site.
