Insuring The Solar Power Industry

The solar power industry is similar to many other industries. Theft of installed solar panels, solar panel and water heater installers get injured on the job, panels not performing properly, etc. The need for insurance is as important as any other high profile industry that's starting to experience growing pains.

Along with panels not working properly or even installed properly and installers getting injured on the job, the theft of photovoltaic panels is on the rise. In the 2008-'09 time period at least 10 wineries in California's Napa Valley were the victims of "panel-thieves." The solar bandits abscond with at least 40 to 50 panels per "job" and they can be valued at $1000 each for new panels. Schools also are starting to see a rise in panel theft.

One company that knows too well the downside and risks associated with the solar industry is "Solarinsure." Solarinsure is an insurance company that provides all types of protection to the alternative energy industry in particular, the solar power industry.

Everything from commercial solar panel financing to solar installation warranty coverage, wind energy farms and insurance for the companies who run large solar plants.

The solar power industry is growing every year and many new start-ups have just begun. If you've got a solar power related company or are thinking about starting one in the near future be sure to take the time to assess your risk and protect your employees and asset's. Do a lot of research online as well as contact solar related companies and trade associations.

Companies like Solarinsure and the national solar trade association SEIA or  Solar Energy Industries Association which has information on how to get started in the solar industry can help you get started in the right direction.
