A Candy Bar That Reduces Greenhouse Gases?

Say What? How can a candy bar reduce greenhouse gases? You don't get gassy after eating it or what?

The "Climate Change Chocolate Bar" from Bloomsberry says that each bar saves 133 lbs of carbon dioxide emissions which they maintain is the amount each person produces each day. Their way of reducing these emissions is to donate money to "TerraPass" who allows consumers to invest in projects like renewable energy and reforestation in an effort to remove from the atmosphere an amount of greenhouse gas equal to that produced by their cars, airplane trips and home energy use.

Each bar contains 15 "green tips" on it's label informing consumers how to further reduce their "carbon footprint" by promoting a "greener" lifestyle.

So you can now eat candy and fight your "emissions" at the same time! :-)

Richard Branson Funding China-Based Alternative Energy Company

Sir Richard Branson of Virgin Group Ltd. is investing heavily in a new China-based company that will help produce solar energy, wind power and hydroelectric projects according to this Bloomberg.com article. China is the largest "emitter" of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases.

Tax breaks and various incentives will be given to companies who produce technologies that reduce these emissions. The govn't is also enforcing auto-fuel standards.

This is good for the U.S. also, at least once a year a large mass of pollution floats over the Pacific and over the west coast of California.

Inventor of Self-Powering Battery Found Dead

Interesting report below. I've heard of other scientists who have been involved in creating technologies that threaten the status quo suddenly dying. A "rational" explanation for their death is always offered up by either representatives of the status quo or people who are simpy too scared to deal with the reality of what has occurred.

When industries worth billions of dollars are threatened by new technology do people seriously think that there won't be any strong reaction to the "threat", in this case scientists?
